Managing Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD)
Preserve the Details That Matter Most.
Macular degeneration is when the center of the retina starts to deteriorate. In the early stages of AMD, there is little to no vision loss. However, as the disease progresses, dark areas or distorted images can occur. AMD typically causes center visual problems and does not affect the periphery.
Dry AMD refers to the degeneration of the central retinal tissue that occurs slowly over time. There are two recently FDA-approved injections to slow down worsening.
Wet AMD refers to the development of abnormal bleeding or fluid under the retina. This can be treated with a number of different injected medications.
Aging is not lost youth but a new stage of opportunity and strength.
